Dr Shraddha Dahale
Post Doctoral Researcher (Molecular Plant Pathologist)

During my Ph.D., I worked with Dr. Saikat Bhattacharjee at the UNESCO-Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad, India where I elucidated the virulence function of HopA1 effectors from different pathovars of Pseudomonas syrinage and its evolution to avoid its recognition in planta. Following my Ph.D., I worked as a visiting Researcher with Prof. Florian Grundler at the University of Bonn, Germany where I was involved in studying the plant-nematode interaction.

Currently, I joined the Plant Pathology Department as a post-doctoral researcher (Molecular Plant Pathologist) and working with Dr. Kostya Kanyuka, Dr. Tom Wood, Dr. Lida Derevnina (Crop Science Centre), and collaborators in Africa to greatly enhance basic understanding of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)- bean rust (Uromyces appendiculatus) pathosystem and provide new capabilities to support researchers in East Africa, enabling them to implement more effective disease control strategies against devastating pathogen. Overall, I am interested in plant-pathogen interaction and plant immune system evolution in different crop species.
