Dr Jordan Price

Jordan leads the Bioinformatics Team at Niab. He works on fungal and plant genomics and builds computational tools for Niab's research groups. His research focuses on the comparative genomics of pathogenic Fusarium species, in particular those infecting lettuce (F. oxysporum f. sp. lactucae) and cereals (F. graminearum and F. culmorum). His current projects include designing dsRNAs for RNAi-based control of
Fusarium and Phytophthora on the Innovate UK mycoDOT project, assembling tetraploid honeyberry (Lonicera caerulea) genomes, and a pan-genome survey of NLR resistance genes in common bean.

Expertise includes:

• Long-read sequencing (PacBio, Oxford Nanopore): genome assembly, haplotype phasing, structural variation and base modifications
• Genome annotation, comparative genomics and phylogenomics
• Transposable element and accessory chromosome analysis
• Multi-omics data integration (RNA-seq, DNA methylation)
• RNAi target selection and dsRNA design
• Custom analysis for complex biological questions and non-standard study designs
• Pipeline development, deployment and operation (Nextflow, SLURM/HPC)
• LLM-based applications for research
