NIAB is proposing to improve and modernise its Park Farm site, near Histon on the outskirts of Cambridge, to bring the facilities up-to-date.

In 2007, South Cambridgeshire District Council granted planning permission for the erection of glasshouses, farm buildings 
and research and development facilities at the site.
Over the years NIAB has built out some aspects of this planning permission. The site currently features The MacLeod Complex, state-of-the-art glasshouses and outdoor ornamental growing facilities, alongside The Sophi Taylor Building, our BREEAM award-winning visitor centre opened in 2013 as part of the NIAB Innovation Farm initiative. Park Farm is also home to our ornamentals section, variety and agronomy demonstration area, analytical services laboratories and some farm buildings.
Our new proposals involve the removal of the older existing 
farm structures, including the concrete tower, and replacing them with new buildings on a similar scale to those previously approved in 2007 but not built. In addition, the application will also include the erection of further glasshouses.
