• Be able to evaluate how best to incorporate options into their own farming system.

Designed for

Growers who are either thinking of introducing some of the many field-based SFI options into their farm business, and those that already have, and would like to gain more knowledge about the pros and cons of doing so. 

Entry requirements

Aimed at growers with limited experience of incorporating cover crops, legume fallows, wildlife and environmental crops, and other field-based SFI options into their crop rotations.

Classroom module 1 (half day):

• An overview of all the relevant field-based SFI options
• The practical requirements that need to be considered at a field and farm level
• The potential benefits and possible challenges (majoring on soil and biological areas)
• The economics of incorporating options into farming systems, considering input costs, payments and the economic effects on existing rotations.
