NIAB's CEO Dr Tina Barsby and Board Chairman Jim Godfrey welcomed Defra Minister of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food George Eustice MP to the Cambridge site today (Monday 21st November 2016).
Mr Eustice viewed some practical applications of science in relation to policy delivery, the production of food and economic growth. His visit included a masterclass in wheat plant breeding with NIAB's Head of Genetics and Breeding Alison Bentley and researcher Richard Horsnell at our Park Farm glasshouses.
The Minister then went on to meet the senior team at Huntingdon Road to find out how NIAB delivers core services to Defra, APHA and the CPVO in seed certification and DUS testing. He also saw how NIAB is working with its membership on data integration to support decision-making on farm with the niabnetwork.com.
