Dr Vanessa McMillan

Vanessa joined Niab in 2019 and is responsible for the delivery of DUS (Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability) testing of sugar beet and cereals (barley, oat and wheat) on behalf of APHA for Variety Listing (VL) and Plant Breeder’s Rights (PBR). She contributes to UK representation internationally, participating in the UPOV (International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants) Technical Working Party for Agricultural Crops and the Technical Working Party for Testing Methods and Techniques.

Vanessa is a fully trained seed crop inspector for UK agricultural species and helps deliver training for new and established cereal crop inspectors. She also provides barley grain identification training for the malting industry
