Leadership and governance

Leadership for the 3CS is currently being provided by a consortium, including Profs. Sir David Baulcombe FRS, Ottoline Leyser FRS, Dr Tina Barsby and Professor Howard Griffiths. The establishment of an endowed Professor in Crop Sciences would allow leadership and focus to develop graduate student research and taught programmes, academic exchanges and industrial secondments. This would then lead to the establishment of a 3CS building with facilities and support staff, with the Professor of Crop Science as Director.

Professor Sir David Baulcombe from the University of Cambridge and the UK Government’s Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Life Sciences George Freeman MP joined NIAB CEO Dr Tina Barsby to announce the development of the Cambridge Centre for Crop Sciences at NIAB's Director's Invitation Day in June 2015.
