NIAB requires an enthusiastic and enterprising Business Development Manager to contribute to capturing and capitalising on the outputs of the “Cambridge-India Network for Translational research in Nitrogen (CINTRIN)”, a BBSRC Newton Fund Virtual Joint Centre for Agricultural Nitrogen between partners at NIAB, ADAS, The University of Cambridge, and three leading institutes in India (ICRISAT, NIPGR and Punjab Agricultural University).

You will incorporate a range of technologies and interests as appropriate to support the synthesis of a large and exciting programme of research focussed on improving crop nitrogen use efficiency and on-farm engagement activities to improve nitrogen recommendations in India. Further developing a growing CINTRIN network of research and application-led scientists and agronomists the role will help to identify project and commercial opportunities in the UK, India and more broadly within South Asia to apply the new knowledge generated by the project. This will include pursuing partnerships and new opportunities with both the public and private sector.

Working within NIAB’s Business Development team this opportunity will allow the postholder to develop new skills and contacts, obtain an understanding of the international landscape of NIAB’s international activities and contribute to the generation of research and commercial opportunities. The successful applicant must have a PhD in a relevant area, evidence of good organisational and communication skills, and a proven ability to work effectively within a team and independently. Experience of doing business with countries in South Asia would be an advantage. A willingness to work collaboratively and to travel to countries in South Asia is essential. This role is for 1 year fixed term with the possibility of continuation based on successful opportunities being identified.

Starting salary is in the range of £23,746 to £33,209 pa, depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
