NIAB provides an exceptional research environment in which to undertake basic and strategic research on crops. A new position is available within the Genetics and Breeding Department at NIAB, Cambridge contributing towards a natural variation platform for pest-resistant cassava breeding. Your duties will involve genome assembly using long and short read data, variant calling, and genome annotation for 100 accessions of cassava wild relatives from CIAT's global cassava collection. You will also prepare data for submission to public repositories and present the data in a genome browser.

You will have a PhD in a relevant field of computer or biological sciences and bioinformatics experience analysing high-throughput sequencing data. You will also be proficient in a scripting language such as Python or Perl. You will ideally have experience with running variant calling, assembly and annotation pipelines. You will also have excellent organisation and communication and problem solving skills.
