NIAB TAG is a leading UK centre for plant science, crop evaluation and agronomy, with a regional network and headquarters in Cambridge. Our field crop research and impartial information is widely utilised by the agricultural community.

We require a Trials Manager, based at our East Malling Trials Centre in Kent. Working under the Farm Manager the appointee will be managing the trials programme growing specialist trials for disease testing, plant breeding, variety and agrochemical efficacy testing. This will involve all aspects of the field trials from crop establishment, agronomy, recording and harvesting to data handling and reporting on a range of arable and horticultural crops all to set protocols. The appointee will also be responsible for managing staff, equipment maintenance programs and will build a strong working relationship with a wide range of internal and external customers and NIAB TAG members. This position is a permanent, full-time appointment.

Applicants must have a good standard of secondary education and a full driving licence or access to independent means of transport. Experience with Staff management and workload planning along with a sound knowledge of UK crop husbandry methods is essential and previous experience in combinable and horticultural crop field trials is desirable. Pesticide application, forklift, ATV and workshop skills certificates are all necessary, but training will be provided where necessary. A high degree of IT literacy and some understanding of statistical techniques are desirable. Attention to detail is paramount in this role. The starting salary will be in the range £21,618 to £24,020 pa, depending on skills, experience and qualifications.
