The course includes comprehensive training in both the theory and practice of sampling techniques. Included in the syllabus will be a background to certification procedures and detailed guidance on the official requirements for labelling, bag sealing and other duties of licensed samplers. The course will conclude with an examination in theory and practical. Success in the exam is recognised by Defra as a relevant qualification for the issue of a seed sampler’s licence. Candidates are advised that they will be expected to pass all sections of the exam at the same time.
Although the course will be aimed particularly at the needs of candidates wishing to become licensed seed samplers, anyone concerned with good sampling practices will find it of interest.
Venue & Registration
The course, of 2 days duration, is held at the Official Seed Testing Station, NIAB.
Courses are normally run twice a year usually in April and November, numbers are limited, and acceptance is on a first come, first served basis. The total course fee is payable on registration. Additional course dates are sometimes offered in response to industry demand and bespoke courses can be arranged.
