Having trained in Horticulture I switched to agriculture on joining Seed Certification.
The merger in 1997 of agriculural crops covered under the Seed Regulations brought responsibility for the growing and recording of Certification control plots all species

As Head of DUS and Certification, I advises Defra on technical issues relating to seeds regulation, varietal identification and purity and training. Regular contact with the seed industry and farmers is also part of my role.
