Potatoes
My main role in the potato team is the delivery of training courses to the potato industry, these include variety, pest and disease identification. Teaching is conducted on both indoor and field based practical courses held on a specially planted training area. In addition to this I am involved in running potato variety and disease trials. There are also a number of potato trials conducted as part of the organic vegetable crop trials programme.
Product Evaluation
As Crop Trials Co-ordinator I am responsible for organising many of the trials at the NIAB regional centres, as well as at headquarters in Cambridge.
It is my job to work with the experienced trial centre managers to offer and run an extensive range of variety, agrochemical and novel trials. Much of my work involves liaison between various areas of NIAB, from seed handling to statistical analysis, in order to deliver both standard and bespoke trials.
