As Head of Ornamental Crops at NIAB I am responsible for trialing new varieties of Ornamentals for the award of UK and/or European Plant Breeders' Rights, and also for our strong involvement in research projects and commercial evaluation trials. NIAB works on a very wide range of species - we specialise in chrysanthemums, dahlias, herbaceous perennials, shrubs, and container plants such as diascia and nemesia, but are also working on plants much newer to horticulture.
