Diversity Genomics Group
The Diversity Genomics Group aims to understand the sequence polymorphism organisation and distribution in crop genomes, and the connection to heritable phenotypic differences.
We are particularly interested in
- the mechanisms and processes responsible for crop domestication and the subsequent impact on genetic diversity
- Identifying novel molecular markers for use in plant breeding
- Understanding how polyploidy influences gene expression
- Quantifying the extent and magnitude of linkage disequilibrium in natural and domesticated crop populations
- Exploiting quantified linkage disequilibrium to locate and clone genes responsible for quantitative traits
