Research at NIAB is carried out by all three operational centres with the emphasis on genomics, pre-competitive plant breeding, utilisation of disease resistance and understanding seed technology. In all cases we strive to produce and deliver results that will aid the development of more sustainable production systems that are environmentally sensitive.

A broad multidisciplinary approach to research is a special strength of the Institute, and the range of skills available from fundamental studies on genetics and physiology, through agronomy and pathology to glasshouse and field trials is unique within the UK research service.
