Dr Manoj Prasad
Co-I WP1
Manoj_prasad@nipgr.ac.in

Manoj is a Senior Scientist at the National Institute of Plant Genome Research working on crop genomics. He has developed novel sets of molecular markers in foxtail millet, bread wheat and barley, and applied them for genetic-, comparative-mapping, molecular genetic diversity studies and identification of QTLs for a variety of traits, which are useful for allele mining and marker-assisted breeding.

Dr Debasis Chattopadhyay
Indian Co-I WP1
NIPGR
debasis@nipgr.ac.in

Debasis is a Senior Scientist at NIPGR working on improvement of abiotic stress tolerance and root traits, as well as genome sequencing and analysis. Focuses on two major areas of research, namely, improvement of tolerance to abiotic stresses (i.e. drought and salt) in higher plants by improving root traits, and genome sequencing and analyses.

Dr Tirthankar Bandyopadhyay
PDRA WP11
cybertirtha@gmail.com

Under the CINTRIN project, Tirthankar is involved in screening diverse foxtail millet accessions in terms of their natural biological nitrogen use efficiencies by characterizing their morpho-physiology, transcriptome and identifying potential nitrogen sensitive (NS) and insensitive (NIS) accessions for subsequent pre-breeding. Furthermore, he intends to employ genome wide association studies to identify crucial genes/QTLs regulating nitrogen use in foxtail millet so that nitrogen use efficient plants can be obtained through new and conventional crop improvement approaches in future.
