Pathogen Cultures

The NIAB maintains a large collection of plant pathogens, which are avalible for purchase. Isolates are supplied as a single pathogen slope or an ampule of spores. Larger quantities of inoculum such as that require for the treatment of a field trial are avalible on request.

Primary inoculum can be supplied as follows:

a) Ampoules of freeze-dried spores:

  • Bean rust
  • Brown rust of wheat, barley & ryegrass
  • Crown rust of ryegrass
  • Leek rust
  • Stem rust of ryegrass
  • Yellow rust of wheat1, barley1 & cocksfoot

b) Detached leaf culture

  • Powdery mildew of wheat1 & barley1

 

£75 + VAT per packet

1 Isolates containing known virulence genes can be supplied.

c) Infected seedlings

  • Powdery mildew of wheat1 & barley1 (£75 + VAT)
  • Downy mildew of pea (£60 + VAT)
  • Yellow rust of wheat1 & barley1 (£230 + VAT per 35 section multistrip)
  • Brown rust of wheat & barley (£230 + VAT per 35 section multistrip)

 

d) Agar plates
