NIAB has appointed Nick Watson as Corporate Service Development Manager.
In a newly created position in NIAB’s Crops and Agronomy Division Mr Watson will be the key contact for corporate customers on agronomy services and will be responsible for meeting their existing and future needs. The role includes liaising with companies on technical and R&D matters to build a cross-industry joined-up approach in applied crop research and technology transfer.
“Part of Nick’s remit is developing opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency throughout the industry, working side-by-side with other organisations in pooling resources and skills or by avoiding duplication within near-market research,” says Juno McKee, Head of Business Strategy at NIAB.
“His appointment is part of an ongoing process to innovate within our services, exploiting the unique combination of skills we can now access at NIAB TAG. We now have an unrivalled source of research expertise and technical services along the length of the seed, variety and crop protection pipelines that’s opening up exciting new opportunities for joined-up research, attracting fresh talent, and investing for the future.”
Mr Watson joins NIAB from Syngenta where he was involved in marketing oilseed rape and maize agrochemical products. A graduate in Applied Biology from Manchester’s Salford University he has also worked for BASF, with a two-year role in seed treatment sales, marketing and technical information and four years in crop research and development.
