Professor John Macleod

28 June 2010

Professor John Macleod, Chairman of the NIAB Trust and former NIAB Director, passed away on Saturday 19 June after a long illness.

NIAB Director Dr Tina Barsby said:

“Everyone at NIAB is deeply saddened at the loss of such an outstanding man, whose boundless enthusiasm, knowledge and infectious sense of humour will be greatly missed. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to John’s family.”

“From his arrival as NIAB Director in 1990 until the very final days of his life, John’s contribution to the development and success of NIAB as an international resource for the plant science and farming community was undiminished.

“I am pleased that we were able to ensure that his legacy will be permanently honoured at NIAB through the Macleod Complex which he opened earlier this year.”
