A vacancy has arisen in the newly formed Analytical Services Team at NIAB. The work of the Team encompasses a wide range laboratory based disciplines; biochemistry, seed testing, seed pathology and variety identification by electrophoresis and molecular techniques. The successful applicant will work primarily at the Seed Testing laboratory, NIAB HQ, Huntingdon Road, Cambridge but may also be required to work within the biochemistry laboratory at Histon, Cambridge.
The main duties are the accurate assessment of seed quality (including tetrazolium testing), sample registration and data entry of results, seed and media preparation.
Applicants for this permanent position should be qualified Seed Analysts but training will be given to suitable candidates with ‘A’ levels or equivalent experience. You should be enthusiastic, have a flexible approach to work and be a good team worker. Some knowledge of modern office software (e.g. MS Office) and a driving licence or access to independent means of transport would be desirable.
